Big news has come out about Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Here the jail administration has done large scale transfers. 18 officers and employees including three jail superintendents have been changed. These also include six officers posted in Jail Number-8, where recently 9 officers were suspended on charges of collusion with prisoners. All have been sent to different jails and centers.
According to sources, Superintendent Om Prakash Nimoria has been sent to the headquarters from Jail Number-2. Whereas, Pramod Kumar Gupta posted in the headquarters has been given the command of Jail Number-3. Pawan Kumar, who was in Jail Number-3, will now take charge of Jail Number-2. Apart from this, three assistant superintendents and three wardens have also been transferred.
Who got transfer where
The warden of Jail Number-5 was sent to Lampur Detention Center. Whereas, out of seven employees of the headquarters, five have been posted in Jail Number-8 and two in Jail Number-5. Jail sources say that in the last three months, more than a hundred officers and employees have been transferred in Tihar. Officially, it is being described as a routine process, but the main reason behind this is the suspicion of collusion of officers with prisoners.
Why were the transfers done?
In Tihar, along with the frequent discovery of mobile phones, narcotics and other prohibited items with prisoners, incidents of crimes like murder and extortion by gangsters from inside the jail are also coming to light. Investigations have exposed the involvement of jail employees many times. However, despite repeated transfers and suspensions, it is proving difficult to stop this collusion.
