Under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, farmers have intensified their agitation for their demands. Today, thousands of farmers will march from Mahamaya flyover in Noida to Delhi. The main objective of this movement is to implement demands like four times compensation like Gorakhpur, benefits of land acquisition law and 10% developed plots. Farmers have already sat on a dharna in front of the Yamuna Authority office for four days, but their demands were ignored. Now the farmers are preparing to surround the Parliament in Delhi.
The farmers allege that the farmers of Gautam Buddha Nagar have not been given four times compensation like the Gorakhpur Highway project. Apart from this, there has been no increase in the circle rate for the last 10 years. Farmer leaders are demanding that the benefits of the new land acquisition law and the recommendations of the High Power Committee be implemented. However, their demands were rejected in a meeting with the police and authority officials on Sunday.
Police route diversion
Noida Police has implemented a special route diversion plan in view of the farmers’ march. Movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Traffic will also be stopped on the roads from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk. People have been advised to use other routes. Traffic is likely to be affected in Delhi and NCR due to the farmers’ protest.
Main demands of farmers
Leaders of the United Kisan Morcha said that their main demands are proper compensation amount related to land acquisition, guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) of crops and solution of outstanding problems of farmers. Accusing the Yamuna Authority, the farmers said that their problems are being constantly ignored. This movement of farmers can become a big demonstration in Delhi. In such a situation, it will be a challenge for both the police and the administration to maintain law and order and keep the traffic system running smoothly.
March towards Delhi from Punjab-Haryana too
Farmers of Punjab and Haryana are also planning to march towards Delhi. Regarding this, farmer leaders said that the first batch will leave for Delhi from Shambhu and Khanauri border on December 6. On the other hand, the farmers accused the central government on this matter and said that the government has not held any talks with the farmers since February 18.
Protests in many states too
Along with the march towards Delhi, farmers in Kerala, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu will also march towards the assemblies of their respective states. Farmers will protest for demands like loan waiver, pension, no increase in electricity rates and withdrawal of police cases. Apart from this, demands are also being raised for justice to the victims of Lakhimpur Kheri violence and compensation to the families of farmers killed in the 2020-21 movement.
