Train canceled due to Farmers protest:The protest of farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha continued on Thursday demanding the release of three farmers arrested by Haryana Police. Farmers sat on the railway line in Patiala district near the Punjab-Haryana border to press for their demands.
The protesters are demanding the release of three fellow farmers including Navdeep Singh, who were arrested by Haryana Police during the agitation. The farmers have said that they will not end their protest until their fellow protesters are released. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that their protest is still going on.
Ambala Railway Division Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Naveen Kumar said that the movement of many trains has been affected due to the farmers’ protest at Shambhu Railway Station. According to officials, many trains including New Delhi-Amritsar, Rishikesh-Shri Ganganagar, Ludhiana-Ambala Cantt were canceled.
The protesting farmers on Wednesday sat on the Ambala-Ludhiana railway line demanding the release of three farmers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are leading the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march to pressurize the government to accept their demands. The farmers are also demanding a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.
The farmers have been camped at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, when security forces stopped their march.
