There is important news for railway passengers. There is going to be a big change in online train ticket booking from October 1, 2025. Now from 8:00 am to 8:15 am i.e. during the first 15 minutes of ticket booking, only those passengers will be allowed to book tickets whose Aadhaar authentication has already been done.
The Railway Ministry has issued an order regarding this new system. The aim of this step is to make the ticket booking system more transparent and to curb the activities of fraud and brokers.
What is the new rule? According to the Railways, when the online booking of general reserved tickets starts at 8 am, brokers misuse that time the most. Therefore, now within the first 15 minutes of booking (from 8:00 to 8:15 am), only those passengers will be able to book tickets whose identity is already verified with Aadhaar card.
During this time, only Aadhaar-verified users will be able to login and book tickets on the IRCTC website or mobile application. This rule will apply only to online ticket booking.
Same restriction for ticket agents as before Railways has also clarified that authorized ticket agents will not be allowed to book any reserved ticket for the first 10 minutes of ticket booking. No change has been made in this rule. Agents will be able to book tickets only after 8:10 am.
No effect on offline ticket booking. There is no change in this rule for passengers who buy tickets from the reservation center located at the railway station. Ticket booking will continue there through the normal process as before.
Why was this step taken? The Railway Ministry believes that there is a huge demand for tickets in the initial period and brokers capture the tickets through technical means, due to which common passengers are not able to get tickets. Making Aadhaar authentication mandatory will ensure that a person can book tickets only for himself at a time and fake accounts cannot be used.
