Two lawyers, Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla, have been appointed as judges of the Allahabad High Court. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal gave this information on Saturday. The High Court Collegium, in a meeting held on March 25 this year, recommended Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla to be made judges of the Allahabad High Court.
Arjun Ram Meghwal said in a post on X that the President, exercising the power conferred by the Indian Constitution, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has appointed Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla as judges of the Allahabad High Court.
Number of sanctioned posts of judges 160
At present, the number of sanctioned posts of judges in the Allahabad High Court is 160, while 84 judges are posted there. With the appointment of Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla, the total number of judges in the Allahabad High Court will increase to 86.
Appointment of two lawyers as judges
Acting on the recommendation of the collegium, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice formalized the appointments and appointed Amitabh Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla as judges and issued a notification. To further strengthen the Allahabad High Court, recently on September 1, the Supreme Court Collegium has sent a recommendation of 26 names to the Central Government. These include 12 advocates and 14 HJS judicial officers of the district judge level. This recommendation is pending with the Central Government.
All these judges have retired
Let us tell you that Allahabad High Court has also had a list of such judges who did the work as a mission. There are many names who have set a record of settling 500 to 700 cases in a day. Prominent among them are Justice BK Narayan, Justice Shashikant Gupta, Justice Ravindra, Justice Sudhir Agarwal, Justice Arun Tandon, Justice BK Shukla, Justice Tarun Agarwal. All these judges have now retired.
