Udaipur Panther Attack: Three people have died in two days in the attack of a man-eating leopard in Gogunda police station area of Udaipur. A woman working in the field lost her life on Friday (20) due to the leopard attack. According to the police, the leopard attacked three people in a radius of five kilometers in two days in Umaria village of Chhali Panchayat and killed them.
He told that Hamari Bhil (50) who was working in the field was attacked by a leopard on Friday evening. On hearing the woman’s scream, people working in the fields nearby ran towards her with axes and sticks, but by then the leopard had dragged Hamari into the forest. On searching, people saw Hamari Bhil in the bushes and the leopard was sitting near her. When people made noise, the leopard ran away from there. After this, Hamari’s body was taken out from the bushes.
Protest was held demanding compensation
It is worth noting that earlier on Thursday, two people were killed in a leopard attack. After the death of two people in a leopard attack, angry villagers protested on Friday demanding compensation. The villagers had blocked the Gogunda-Jhadol road by placing stones. Udaipur District Officer Arvind Kumar Poswal said that in view of the situation, two more rescue teams have been called and efforts are being made to catch the leopard by tranquillizing it.
Rescue teams have also been called from Rajsamand
District Forest Officer Ajay Chittorda said that the Udaipur team is on the spot. Apart from this, rescue teams have also been called from Jodhpur and the nearby district Rajsamand. Chittorda said that the way the attack has happened in the surrounding area, it seems that only one leopard is attacking people.
