UIDAI has expressed concern that about 17 crore students have not updated their Aadhaar biometrics, UIDAI has written a letter to all the states and requested them to organize update camps in schools.

Information has been given by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that the mandatory biometrics of about 17 crore students across the country have not been updated. A letter has been written to the secretaries of all the states to get the biometrics of all the students updated. Cooperation has been sought to get the updates done by organizing camps in schools.

The Union Education Ministry has also uploaded information in this regard on its Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE Plus), so that all the district officials and principals can get real time information about how many students in their school have not had their biometrics updated.

CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Bhuvnesh Kumar has also written a letter in this regard to all the Chief Secretaries of the states and union territories. In this, cooperation has been sought to get the biometrics of these students updated.

17 crore children have not been updated

There are 17 crore children across the country, whose Aadhaar has been made but their biometrics have not been updated till date. Actually, when children are born, their Aadhaar is also made on the basis of their parents’ Aadhaar. However, later it has to be updated with time. UIDAI told that it is necessary to complete Aadhaar biometric update on time for children at the age of five and then at the age of 15. There are 17 crore children in the country who have not got the biometric update done till now.

Will the children’s update be done in schools?

The Unique Identification Authority of India has written a letter and appealed to all the states to get this work done. Along with this, a simple suggestion has been given that the work of updating can be done easily in schools. That is why it is certain that in the coming days, the Aadhaar biometric update of children will be done in schools only.
