There is joy of Ganpati immersion all around on Anant Chaturdashi in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, but amidst this joy, a major accident took place on the bridge of Shipra river. In which a car suddenly fell down from the bridge during Ganpati immersion. As soon as the car fell down, the policemen posted on the bridge immediately informed the senior officers about this incident. In the presence of senior officers, the team of NDRF, SDRF, Municipal Corporation and Administration, Home Guard started the rescue operation.

Giving information about the whole matter, SP Pradeep Sharma said that during the Ganpati immersion in the evening, suddenly a car came towards the big bridge from Juna Somvariya. The speed of the car was so fast that it fell straight into the river. The policemen posted here have told that the color of the car was white and its windows were closed. There were probably two people in the car, who have not been traced yet. To find the car and the people in it, the NDRF team is engaged in rescue by running a boat in the river. While along with them, the Home Guard and SDRF team are searching for the car and the people sitting in it by entering the river.

Aman Goyal, a passerby riding a scooter and an eyewitness to this incident, said that he was going to Ramghat with his sister for Ganesh Visarjan, when a car passed by his scooter and fell straight into the river. There are no barricades on the bridge right now, if there were barricades, then perhaps this car would have been saved from falling down. After the incident, there was chaos in the area. The police and NDRF team reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

Problems in rescue operation

Due to heavy rains these days, the water level of Maa Shipra has increased and along with Ramghat being completely submerged, the temples here are also submerged. Also, during the Ganesh Visarjan, there was a huge crowd of people on the ghat, due to which the rescue teams are facing a lot of difficulties in carrying out the rescue operation.
