Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the defeated candidates of the Conservative Party over the weekend and apologized for the party’s poor performance in last week’s general election. The Conservative Party has won only 121 seats in the House Commons. Many former MPs told about the very sympathetic call they received from the British Indian MP.
Rishi Sunak has won his seat of Richmond and Northallerton in Yorkshire and will remain the leader of the opposition until the party selects his successor.
Rishi Sunak apologizes for the defeat
A defeated candidate of the party said that he took time to call me on Saturday night and I think he has taken time to call other MPs as well. He was calling to say that he is very sorry that I have lost my seat.
Did not get success in the election
Rishi Sunak said in his speech last week that the Conservative candidates and campaigners worked tirelessly but they did not get success. He said that I am sorry that we could not deliver results in line with your efforts. Meanwhile, new Prime Minister Keir Starmer spent the first weekend of his tenure touring various parts of Britain.
