Ukraine-Russia war: Russia launched a series of missile attacks on Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

Kiev: Russia has carried out deadly missile attacks in Ukraine. At least five civilians have died in these attacks by Russia. Ukrainian officials gave information about this on Wednesday. The attacks have been carried out at a time when the US Trump administration has lifted the ban on military aid to Ukraine to deal with Russia’s aggression during talks between Kiev and Washington in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Ukrainian officials have also indicated that they are ready for a 30-day ceasefire.

Missile fired at Zelensky’s hometown
Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said that Russian ballistic missiles targeted a ship parked at the Odessa port, killing four Syrian citizens aged 18 to 24 on it. He said that the ship was attacked when Ukrainian wheat was being loaded on it for Algeria. According to Kuleba, Russia also launched a missile attack in Krivih Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky in central Ukraine, killing a woman.

Proposal will be placed before Russia

The US is supporting a ceasefire between the two sides. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who represented the US delegation in the talks, said Washington would place Ukraine’s ceasefire proposal before the Kremlin (Russia’s President’s Office). He said, “We will convey this offer (to the Russians). Ukraine is ready to stop firing and start talks and now it is up to them (Russia) whether they say yes or no. If they say ‘no’, then unfortunately we will know what is the obstacle to establishing peace in the region.” Russia is waiting for this
The Kremlin has not yet commented on the agreement reached between the US and Ukraine on Tuesday regarding military assistance and the possibilities of a ceasefire with Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday that it was important that questions related to the 30-day ceasefire proposal “are not avoided.” He said that Moscow is waiting for “detailed information” from the US in this regard and Russia can take a stand only after getting the information.

‘The ball is in Russia’s court’
Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff may visit Moscow this week, where he may meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. An official familiar with the matter has given this information on the condition of anonymity. French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed the new agreement between the US and Ukraine. “The ball is now clearly in Russia’s court,” he said in a post on X. (AP)
