Uniform Civil Code: Uttarakhand Assembly session from February 5, government can table UCC report in the House

Uniform Civil Code: The session of Uttarakhand Assembly has been called from February 5. An official gave this information on Friday. However, the official said that the agenda of the session has not been decided yet, but it is believed that in this session the Dhami government can present the report of Uniform Civil Code. This is being said because the announcement of the session has come a day after CM Dhami’s statement in which he has said that the report will be received soon.

CM Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had said that the expert committee preparing the draft of the Uniform Civil Code will soon submit its report to the government. Assembly Secretary in-charge Hem Chandra Pant said that the Assembly Speaker has called the session from February 5 and a notification has been issued in this regard. He informed that the agenda of the session will be decided in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House.

Government can present UCC report in the House
Dhami, in his message issued to the people of the state on the eve of Republic Day on Thursday, had said that the five-member expert committee preparing the draft of the Uniform Civil Code has completed its work and will soon submit its report to the state government. He also said that after receiving the report, a session of the state assembly will be called and the process of implementing it will be started.

Meanwhile, the state government has once again extended the tenure of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai by 15 days. Experts believe that extension of tenure by only 15 days is a clear indication that the committee will submit its report to the government soon. After which the Dhami government can present it in the Assembly in the upcoming session.
