Union Minister Nitin Gadkari: During an interview on ‘Road Safety Campaign 2025’, he said that the incentive given for helping road accident victims will now be Rs 25,000.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said something big amid the increasing cases of road accidents. He said that the government will increase the amount of reward given to those who immediately take road accident victims to the hospital. The amount of reward will now be increased to Rs 25,000 for taking the accident victim to the hospital on time. At present, those who do this are given a reward of Rs 5,000. After this change, it will increase five times the current prize money.

While talking to actor Anupam Kher on an important issue related to road safety, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he has instructed his Road Transport Ministry to increase the prize money. He said that this amount is very less to be given to a person who does a big and valuable work like saving someone’s life. Gadkari said that if someone takes the road accident victims to the hospital or trauma care center within an hour, then it can be very important in saving someone’s life.

Incentive was started in 2021

It was started by the government from October 2021 with the aim of encouraging people who help road accident victims. For this purpose, the system of rewarding was started. But the website of the Ministry of Road Transport has told about Good Samaritan.

The Ministry has described Good Samaritan as a person who helps people in good faith, with the aim of helping people, without greed for any reward. Also, without any duty of care or special relationship to the accident victim, he helps him with his own will to give immediate assistance to the injured person in an accident, emergency medical situation, or emergency.

This scheme gives a certificate of recognition along with giving awards. Through this, an attempt is made to ensure that it is given to the real person only. Several levels of verification and support have been set for someone to get this award.

Moreover, the rules stipulate that people who come to the aid of victims of a gruesome accident are eligible to receive these incentives. Currently, there is no data available in the public domain as to how many Good Samaritans have helped save lives and how many have been rewarded so far
