Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has made a big claim. He has said that before the Lok Sabha elections, he was offered the post of Prime Minister but he turned down the offer. Gadkari said that this offer was made by a big leader of the opposition but I have refused it saying that I do not crave for the post.
During the Journalism Award in Nagpur, Gadkari mentioned that incident and said that I will not take anyone’s name but the leader who made this offer to me had said that if you become the Prime Minister, we will support you. I asked him why do you want to support me and why should I take your support? I told him that becoming PM is not the goal of my life.
I am loyal to my ideology
I told him that I am loyal to my ideology and organization. I am in the party which has given me everything that I had never even dreamed of. No offer can entice me. I will not compromise for any post because I am a person who follows conviction. During this, Gadkari emphasized the importance of ethics in both journalism and politics.
Gadkari laid special emphasis on ethics
In his speech, Gadkari also said that a person who opposes honestly should be respected. Democracy can succeed only when all four pillars like judiciary, executive, legislature and media follow ethics. Gadkari honored four senior journalists with the Anilkumar Award for Excellence in Journalism 2023-24 at the ceremony.
Gadkari’s special identity in the party-union
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections too, his name was floated for the post of Prime Minister but the Union Minister rejected it. At that time he had said that the command of the country is in the hands of Narendra Modi. We are all behind him. There is no question of me becoming PM. Gadkari is a three-time MP from Nagpur Lok Sabha seat. He has a different identity in the party and the union.
