UP: 63 prisoners in the district jail located in the capital Lucknow are infected with HIV, there was panic in the jail administration as soon as the news came out, medical test of the prisoners revealed.

Lucknow: Big news has come out from Lucknow, UP. Here 63 prisoners have been found HIV infected in the district jail. The jail administration had conducted medical tests of the prisoners, in which this shocking information was found. This news has come out quoting news agency PTI.

What did the jail officials say?
Prison officials shared that most of the infected prisoners had a history of drug addiction. He claimed that the prisoners came in contact with the virus through the use of contaminated syringes outside the jail premises. Officials also claimed that no prisoner contracted the virus during their stay inside the jail. Officials claimed that no infected prisoner has died in the last five years.

Jail Director General’s statement came out
Director General of Prisons (DG-Prisons) S N Sabat told PTI, “No prisoner has died due to HIV infection in the district jail, Lucknow, in the last five years. We are seeing cases of HIV infected people from time to time in all the jails of Uttar Pradesh.” Let’s test people. Not a single person has been infected with HIV after being admitted to Lucknow jail. They were already infected. Most of the affected prisoners were infected due to drug abuse.”

What is HIV and how is it spread?
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) attacks and paralyzes the immune system of an infected person. If the patient is not treated, this virus can cause the serious disease Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, also known as AIDS.

The most serious stage of HIV infection is AIDS. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), HIV is spread through the body fluids of an infected person, including blood, breast milk, semen and vaginal fluids. It is not spread by kissing, hugging or sharing food. It can also spread from mother to her child.
