UP: A total of 175 candidates filed nominations for eight seats in the second phase, nominations of 94 candidates were valid and 81 nomination papers were rejected.

UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Nomination papers of a total of 94 candidates were found valid on eight Lok Sabha seats of the second phase of Lok Sabha 2024 elections in Uttar Pradesh and nomination papers of 81 candidates have been cancelled. An official gave this information on Friday.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that in the second phase of Lok Sabha General Elections-2024, a total of 175 candidates filed nominations for eight Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. In today’s scrutiny of nomination papers filled for the second phase, nominations of 94 candidates were found valid and nomination papers of 81 candidates were rejected.

Nominations of these candidates were canceled

Voting will be held on April 26 in eight Lok Sabha seats of the second phase in Uttar Pradesh – Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh and Mathura. The process of filing nomination papers for these seats started from March 28 and continued till April 4. Scrutiny of nomination papers took place today i.e. Friday, April 5, in which nomination papers of 94 candidates from all these eight constituencies were found valid.

In the second phase itself, a total of 15 candidates, including Mukesh Dhangar of Congress and Suresh Singh of Bahujan Samaj Party, are facing opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Mathura and the famous actress of her time, Hema Malini. The nomination paper has been found valid.

Actor Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in the popular serial Ramayana, is in the contest on Meerut seat, along with whom the nomination papers of a total of nine candidates including Samajwadi Party’s Sunita Verma and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Devvrat Tyagi have been found valid.

21 nominations canceled in Amroha
Rinwa said that in the second phase, nomination papers of various political parties and independent candidates for eight Lok Sabha constituencies of the state were rejected. In this, nominations of nine out of 21 candidates for Amroha were rejected and those of 12 candidates were found valid.

He told that nine out of 22 candidates in Meerut, seven out of 16 candidates in Baghpat, 14 out of 35 candidates in Ghaziabad, 15 out of 34 candidates in Gautam Buddha Nagar, six out of 10 candidates in Bulandshahr (Reserved), 16 out of 21 candidates in Aligarh and 16 out of 21 candidates in Mathura. Out of 16 candidates, nomination papers of 15 candidates have been found valid.

He told that in the second phase of elections, maximum 16 candidates are left in Aligarh and least six candidates are left in Bulandshahr (SC). Voting will be held in all seven phases in Uttar Pradesh.
