UP New International Airport: Jewar International Airport will become operational from this year! The country and UP will get a new identity

Jewar International Airport:Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is constructing an international airport on 1334 hectares in Jewar, Greater Noida. This airport will connect the cities of Western UP and Delhi-NCR including Agra, Mathura, Gautam Buddh Nagar with the world.

Due to this airport, industrialization will accelerate in these areas. Improvement in air connectivity will boost the tourism sector and may create more opportunities for development of new tourism centres. Due to which employment will also be created. Not only this, this airport will also help in reducing the congestion at IGI Airport in Delhi. Jewar Airport is being built through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Two runways are being constructed here and in future it will be built with six runways on 7200 acres (2900 hectares). Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Jewar Airport on 26 November 2021. It is expected that the airport will begin operations in October 2024.

 29561 crore will be spent on the construction of Jewar Airport.

Jewar International Airport, India’s largest, is located just 72 km from the country’s busiest Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Here a 3900 meter long runway and 38 meter high air traffic control tower is almost ready. The terminal building being built in one lakh square feet is also almost ready. This project will be completed in 4 phases. Which has been targeted to be completed in 30 years. Rs 29561 crore will be spent on this. Currently the construction work of the first phase is going on. Rs 4588 crore is to be spent in the first phase. Rs 5983 crore will be spent in the second phase, Rs 8415 crore will be spent in the third phase, Rs 10575 crore will be spent in the fourth phase. After the completion of the airport, 7 crore passengers will be able to travel every year.

Features of Jewar International Airport

  •  28 airplanes will be able to park in the apron of Jewar Airport being built in the first phase.
  •  The capacity of the first phase is 1.2 crore passengers.
  •  With the construction of Jewar Airport, NCR will have two big airports.
  •  There will be facility for repair and maintenance of planes at the airport, currently in case of major faults, the planes are sent to Seattle or France for repair.
  •  For the first time, there will be a swing stand on the apron stand so that the aircraft can be turned easily.
  •  With the swing stand, international flights will be converted into domestic flights without changing the runway.
  •  This will be the first airport in the country with zero energy, zero carbon emissions, zero waste and water.
  •  Maximum use of daylight will be made at Jewar Airport.
  •  There will be a lounge in local architectural, climate friendly style at Jewar Airport.
  •  When completed, it will be the fourth largest airport in the world.
  •  Swiss company Zurich International will run this airport for 40 years.
  •  Jewar airport will be connected by bus, car, taxi along with metro and high speed rail network.
  •  Jewar Airport will be connected to Yamuna Expressway and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
  •  A 6-lane road of 750 meters will be built to connect with Yamuna Expressway.
  •  More than 90 thousand flights will be required annually.
  •  More than 10 companies from countries like America, Japan etc. are setting up their companies along the Yamuna Expressway near the airport.
  •  The country’s first pod taxi service will start on Yamuna Expressway.
  •  Pod taxi service will connect Jewar and Noida airports to Film City.
  •  The first phase will include 101 pods. It will seat 6 people and there will be 12 stations in the 20 minute journey.

Jewar Airport is well connected to NCR and various other districts of Western Uttar Pradesh. This site is about 30 km away from the State Highway SH-22A i.e. the highway connecting Palwal and Aligarh and 700 meters away from the Yamuna Expressway. There is a plan to connect the airport to Palwal Khurja Expressway on the southern side. Apart from this, there is 100 meter wide Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The Formula One track passes through the Yamuna Expressway, which connects the site to Palwal, Manesar, Ghaziabad, Baghpat and Meerut.
