In UP’s Bhadohi, police have registered a case against about a dozen people including Samajwadi Party leader Anjani Saroj for involving school children in a protest against the government’s decision to merge schools. After the video went viral, the DM has ordered action.
This has created a stir among the local SP leaders and the education department. It is being said that school teachers and officials also agree to this.
What is the matter?
According to District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar, 40 children studying in the primary school of Sikandra village of Aurai development block were transferred to the vacant Anganwadi center of Pilkhani village for studies with the consent of their parents, which is just 800 meters away from Sikandra.
He told that on Wednesday, SP leader Anjani Saroj reached the Anganwadi center of Pilkhani with her supporters. There she gifted materials like pencils, erasers to the children. After this, it is alleged that Anjani Saroj and her supporters lured the children with toffees and handed them banners and posters in their hands and took them to Sikandra Primary School and made them protest.
Police action and investigation
The District Magistrate said that the Chief Development Officer and the Sub-District Officer had got the incident investigated. On the complaint of Sabhajit Yadav, the headmaster of Sikandra Primary School, a case has been registered against Anjani Saroj and others in the Chauri police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
Chauri police station in-charge Ramesh Kumar said that on the basis of the viral video, other people seen with Anjani Saroj are being identified and legal action is underway.
Orders for departmental inquiry
District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar has taken the negligence of Aurai’s Assistant Education Officer Ramakant Singroul seriously and has ordered a departmental inquiry against him.
