UP: Uttar Pradesh government minister Dharampal Singh made several major announcements by launching a program to distribute radium strips to protect cattle from accidents in Qazi Kheda village of Lucknow.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharmpal Singh today launched a program to distribute radium strips to protect cows from accidents in village Qazi Kheda of Gosaiganj in Lucknow. He started the program by wearing a radium strip to a cow with cow worship. With this, the work of wearing radium strips around the necks of cattle owners in villages located near all the highways of the state started. He also announced from the stage that a large cow conservation center will be set up in village Qazi Kheda at a cost of Rs 1.80 crore.

While addressing the cattle owners, he said that the government is sensitive towards road safety as well as public protection and cow protection. In villages near roads and highways, there is a possibility of road accidents if cattle and animals of cattle owners come on the road at night. Everyone’s extensive participation and cooperation is very important in this campaign to protect cows from road accidents. The Animal Husbandry Department, with the help of 5 other coordinating departments such as Rural Development Department, Urban Development Department, Revenue Department, Panchayati Raj Department and Home Department, will do the work of putting radium strips around the neck of cows and other animals in villages located near the roads in a phased manner.

The government is sensitive towards the safety and protection of cows – Minister

Dharmpal Singh said that the state government is continuously working for the protection of destitute cows. He said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is a cow devotee and is very sensitive towards the safety and protection of cows. He said that the milk of a native cow is Amrit. The income of farmers will double with cow rearing along with farming. He said that work is being done to establish cow rearing as a business. For this, a special grant has been arranged for bringing good quality cows from outside. Loans will be made available to farmers for animal husbandry by coordinating with bankers.

Dharmpal Singh said that the government has done a great job in the field of protection of destitute cows. There has been a considerable reduction in the loss of crops due to cows, the grain production in the state is constantly increasing. The Animal Husbandry Department is constantly doing multi-faceted experiments in this field. Cow dung is used to make cow lamps, incense sticks, golag, cow dung pots, vermicompost and CBG production units. Women self-help groups are making a significant contribution in the operation of these units.

He said that according to the 20th animal census, it has been decided to establish large cow protection centers, temporary cow shelters and Kanha cow shelters to protect 1184494 destitute cows in the state. At present, 1252338 destitute cows are protected in a total of 7714 cow shelters including 6743 temporary cow shelters, 372 large cow conservation centers, 306 Kanji houses in rural areas and 293 Kanha cow shelters in urban areas. He said that under the Chief Minister’s Sahyogita Yojana, 162625 destitute cows have been handed over to 105139 willing beneficiaries. The state government is spending approximately Rs. 07.00 crores per day on the maintenance of cows handed over under Sahyogita Yojana and cows protected in cow shelters.
