USA NEWS: Two top White House economic advisors – Peter Navarro and Elon Musk – are now openly facing off against each other over US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy

USA Tariff NEWS: US President Donald Trump’s own advisors have now clashed with each other over his tariff policy. Two top economic advisors of the White House – Peter Navarro and Elon Musk – are now speaking openly against each other. Navarro has accused Elon Musk of opposing the imposition of tariffs on America’s major trading partners only for his own benefit. At the same time, Elon Musk has raised questions on Navarro’s education and his economic knowledge. It is clear from this that there is a deep tussle going on within the Trump administration on this issue.

This controversy increased further when Peter Navarro criticized Musk’s anti-tariff views in an interview to Fox News. He admitted that Musk, who is also associated with the Department of Energy (DOE), is doing a good job there, but also said that Musk’s opposition to tariffs is to benefit his companies.

Peter Navarro made these allegations

Peter Navarro said, “When Elon Musk works for the Department of Energy (DOE), he does a good job, but we know what is really happening. Elon sells cars and he is only talking about his own benefits.” Navarro said that Musk’s company Tesla can suffer a direct loss from the tariff because Tesla imports large quantities of automobile parts from China, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan and many countries. Navarro says that Musk is opposing the tariff so that his company’s profits remain intact.

Musk rejected the allegations

Elon Musk has called Navarro’s allegations completely false and has given a strong response on the social media platform X. Musk not only opposed Navarro’s statements, but also questioned his studies and work experience. Musk wrote in a post, “Having a PhD from Harvard in Economics is not a good thing, rather it can be a bad thing.” He said that so much education has distanced Navarro from the economic realities of the real world. In another post, Musk wrote, “All this is a problem of his arrogance and thinking.”

Trump suffered losses

Elon Musk was earlier considered a big supporter of President Trump and was counted among Trump’s special advisors. But since Trump recently announced the “Liberation Day” tariff, Musk has been silent on this issue. Due to this tariff, the market has fallen and Musk alone has suffered a loss of more than $ 30 billion (about Rs 2.5 lakh crore). Now people are thinking that Musk’s opposition to Trump’s policies may be due to his personal loss.

What will happen next?

Now it will be interesting to see how Trump deals with this controversy. Will he stick to the tough trade policy of his old advisor Navarro? Or will he show some leniency keeping in mind the concerns of Musk and other business leaders?

This matter is important not just for America but also for the trade relations of the whole world. Because when the conflict between the world’s big economies increases, it affects the entire global economy and at present the world is already facing many economic difficulties.
