A 20-year-old BTech second year student of SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the platform of Namo Bharat Train (Rapid Rail) station in Muradnagar area on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said that Keshav (20), from Bahadurgarh-Jhajjar in Haryana, left the hostel on Saturday evening telling his friends that he was going home and at around 4 pm he reached Muradnagar Rapid Rail station, where he went to the edge of the platform and jumped from the railing.
The police officer said that the people nearby immediately rushed him to the Community Health Center in Muradnagar where doctors declared him dead. He said that the body of the student has been sent for post-mortem. Tiwari said that no suicide note has been found in Keshav’s room or luggage and his relatives have not lodged any complaint yet.
Murder confirmed by CCTV footage
The officer said that the police have examined the CCTV footage, which confirmed suicide. He says that if any complaint is lodged, appropriate action will be taken. Rapid Rail service was started in the month of October last year. Through this, the area up to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh is being connected to Delhi NCR. Rapid Rail will connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. This will make it easier for people working here to commute.
