UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: After National President of Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party and former minister Swami Prasad Maurya, now his son Uttam Maurya has also filed nomination papers from Kushinagar Lok Sabha seat of UP. Uttrakash has filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate. After which now both father and son will contest elections from the same seat.
Uttam Maurya reached the Collectorate on Tuesday and filed his nomination. However, during this period his father Swami Prasad Maurya was not seen with him. Earlier on May 9, Swami Prasad Maurya had also filed his nomination from Kushinagar seat. He will be the candidate of his party RSP. But, now after his son also contesting as an independent candidate, father and son will be seen face to face on one seat.
Swami Prasad Maurya’s son filed the nomination
Swami Prasad Maurya has been trying to make a place for his son in politics for a long time. His son has twice contested the assembly elections from Unchahar seat of UP but had to face defeat both times by a small margin. Even during the 2022 assembly elections, Maurya, while in SP, had demanded Akhilesh Yadav to give ticket to his son, however, the SP President expressed confidence in his close friend Manoj Pandey.
Swami Prasad Maurya had resigned before the Rajya Sabha elections, accusing the Samajwadi Party of double standards, after which he has formed his new party Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party. After forming a new party, he had announced his support to the India Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. Although he hoped that he could be the alliance candidate from Kushinagar, but it did not happen. After which Maurya filed nomination as a candidate of his own party.
Experts believe that his son has also applied from Kushinagar seat so that even if his nomination is canceled for some reason, Maurya can remain in the election field through his son.
