Haji Iqbal initially did mining business which changed his fortune. Within a short time, he collected property worth thousands of crores. No matter who is in power, Haji’s reputation has always been high. There was a time when ministers, MLAs and other big officers were found standing with their heads bowed in Haji’s court. During this time, Haji Iqbal built a luxurious university on about 121 acres of land bought by intimidating people in Mirzapur area. Global University has been in controversy since the beginning because it was built illegally by occupying the flowing rivers.

Bad days started from 2017

After losing the election in 2017, Haji’s bad days started. The noose started tightening on Haji Iqbal, his younger brother Mahmood Ali and Iqbal’s four sons, relatives and associates. Haji Iqbal and his associates were accused of illegal mining, money laundering, occupying land by intimidation as well as rape. Haji Iqbal was declared a gang leader by the police. Haji Iqbal fled the country, UP police arrested Haji’s younger brother Mahmood Ali and Haji Iqbal’s sons and relatives but Haji could not be caught by them.

Court declared him a fugitive

When Haji did not appear in court for a long time, the court declared Haji Iqbal a fugitive. Police announced a reward of lakhs of rupees on Haji. CBI and ED also filed charges against Haji in their investigation. Property worth billions of rupees of Haji Iqbal and his associates from UP to Uttarakhand was confiscated. Haji’s houses were demolished by bulldozers but Haji Iqbal did not appear in court.

Haji hiding in an Arab country

A few months ago, Haji Iqbal’s photo went viral with a big industrialist of the Middle East. After which it was learned that Haji Iqbal is hiding somewhere in an Arab country. Later, Haji Iqbal requested his lawyer to appear through video conferencing regarding the cases going on against him. Haji now appears in court while sitting abroad. Haji has also got relief in some cases. But, Haji is completely shaken by the news of Haji’s university being attached in the case of illegal mining and money laundering.
