Uttarakhand: Cloudburst in Chamoli causes devastation in Tharali, debris enters many houses including SDM residence, many people missing

An incident of cloudburst has come to light in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. A cloud has burst in Tharali, Chamoli. 2 people are reported to be buried in this incident. The incident happened at 1 o’clock in the night. The SDRF team has left for the spot for relief and rescue operations. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also expressed grief over this incident.

Chamoli DM Sandeep Tiwari said that there is a possibility of a lot of damage due to cloudburst in Tharali tehsil last night. A lot of debris has come due to the cloudburst, due to which many houses including the SDM residence have been completely damaged. The SDM residence is also filled with four feet of debris.

ADM Vivek Prakash said that there has been a lot of damage due to cloudburst in Tharali. A 20-year-old girl and an elderly man are reported missing due to the debris. Both are feared to be buried under the debris. They are being searched. Debris has come due to heavy rains in Tharali and surrounding areas.

Administration engaged in relief and rescue work
Chamoli Police said that last night, heavy rains in Thana Tharali area affected life. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Thana Tharali Police showed promptness in the night itself and alerted the local people and evacuated them from their homes to safe places.

On the other hand, Uttarakhand Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that due to cloudburst in Tharali of Chamoli district, debris has entered houses, the market and the SDM’s residence. District Magistrate and relief teams have left for the spot. Two people are reported missing.

CM Dhami gave instructions for immediate help
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is also constantly monitoring the situation. He expressed grief over the incident and has instructed the disaster management team to immediately help the affected people.

CM Dhami wrote on Twitter that ‘Sad news of cloudburst was received late night in Tharali area of ​​Chamoli district. District administration, SDRF, police have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and am closely monitoring the situation myself. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.’
