Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Meeting: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Nand Bardhan held an important meeting with the Transport Department with the aim of expanding and improving rail facilities in the state. In this meeting, he reviewed the progress of proposed and operated rail projects in the state and directed to take necessary steps to remove various obstacles.
He asked the department to submit a detailed report on the status of all rail projects, so that the problems being faced in the work can be resolved. Apart from this, the Chief Secretary also directed to clarify the status of upgradation of all major railway stations including Dehradun.
In this meeting, the Transport Department informed that at present there are a total of five rail projects in the state, out of which three are proposed and two projects are being operated. The proposed projects include Gangotri-Yamunotri Rail Project, Tanakpur-Bageshwar Rail Project and Dehradun-Saharanpur Rail Project.
Gangotri-Yamunotri Rail Project: The total length of this project is 121.76 km and 10 stations are proposed in it. Its survey work has been completed and DPR has been sent to the Railway Board. At present, approval is awaited on this.
Tanakpur-Bageshwar Rail Project: The total length of this project is 170.70 km and 12 stations are proposed in it. Its survey work has also been completed and DPR has been submitted to the Railway Board. This project is also awaiting approval.
Dehradun-Saharanpur Rail Project: Its total length is 92.60 km and 8 stations are proposed in it. Survey work of this project is going on and it will be finalized soon.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan said that the effort to connect the inaccessible hilly areas of the state with the rail network is important from economic, industrial and social point of view. Along with this, the role of railways is important to ensure smooth movement to world famous Dhams and pilgrimage sites. He said that railway infrastructure also has strategic importance and it should be developed on priority basis.
Resolve any administrative bottlenecks quickly
He directed to coordinate with the Ministry of Railways, RVNL and other related institutions, so that the implementation of all rail projects can be expedited. He also asked to ensure that any kind of administrative bottlenecks are resolved soon.
Officials of related departments were present in this meeting
On this occasion, Secretary Transport, Additional Secretary Transport, Secretary MDDA and officials of other related departments were also present. Financial, technical and administrative issues related to railway projects were also discussed in detail in the meeting. The Chief Secretary directed all the officials to make dedicated efforts to complete the rail projects in a timely manner and no laxity should be shown in this work. He also said that the expansion of railways in the state will boost tourism and trade, which will strengthen the state’s economy.
