A ruckus has started over the allotment of a house to a Muslim family in the Chief Minister Housing Scheme located in Harni, Vadodara. The rest of the residents in the society have started opposing the allotment of this house. People are demanding cancellation of the allotment of the Muslim family. The name of this residential society of Harni is Motnath Residency. The citizens living here have opened a front against the corporation by raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram. People allege that the municipality is trying to spoil the atmosphere by allocating a house to a Muslim in a Hindu area.

People living in Motnath Residency have given a memorandum to the Municipal Corporation in this regard. People allege that the municipality is not taking any action on this. In such a situation, the local people have threatened to go on a hunger strike. And have said that the municipality should cancel the house allotted to the Muslim family as soon as possible. People have also cited the implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act here.

Nagar Palika put forth its side

Seeing the growing resentment of the people of the society, Nilesh Parmar, Executive Engineer of Affordable Housing of Nagar Palika, has put forth his side in the matter. He said that the documents of this building were passed in 2018. At that time the Disturbed Act was not applicable. Since there is no allocation on the basis of religion in government schemes, the Nagar Palika has no responsibility in this. He also said that if the local residents come together and find a solution, then it will be better.

Muslim woman told her story

At the same time, the Muslim woman says that she has lived in such an area since the beginning, where people of all cultures live. The woman says that she has a 12-year-old son. Seeing the opposition of the people, the woman has expressed disappointment and said that where can she go now with her son. She says that she wants to give a better environment to her son.

Know what is this whole matter?

The matter is of the year 2017. A 44-year-old Muslim woman working in a branch of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development was allotted a house here under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme. This house is located in the LIG residential complex of Vadodara Municipal Corporation in Harni. There are a total of 462 flats here. 461 flats were allotted to Hindu families while only one was allotted to a Muslim family. But as soon as the people here came to know about this, everyone started protesting.

First of all, 33 residents here sent a written complaint to the District Collector and other concerned officials. In this complaint, they cited the fear of unrest. Although the officials said that there is only one Muslim allottee in the complex, despite this the protest did not subside. Gradually the number of people protesting here increased.
