Waqf Board Amendment Bill: Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani, while presiding over the Constitution Protection Conference, said, “There is a sectarian mindset in the country. Waqf Bill is an important issue…”

Waqf Board Amendment Bill 2024: Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani on Sunday (3 November 2024) gave his reaction on the Waqf Board Amendment. While chairing the Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind’s Constitution Protection Conference at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi, Maulana Arshad Madani said, “There is a communal mindset in the country. The Waqf Bill is an important issue. I invite Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, on whose crutches the government is running, that they can never understand how much the sentiments of Muslims are attached to this, sitting in their bungalows.”

Referring to the TDP chief, a partner in power at the Center, he said, “I thank Naidu. The people of the country defeated the BJP government, but the BJP government is sitting on two crutches. Nawab Jaan, the Vice President of TDP has been sent here by Naidu sahab, who will tell him about the situation here. At the end of this month, on 15 December, we will gather 5 lakh Muslims in Naidu’s area.”

‘This bill is filled with poison’

Arshad Madani warned TDP and JDU that if this law is passed, then the crutches on which BJP is ruling the country will also be responsible. This bill is filled with poison which will harm Muslims. Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind claims that on 24 November, a big rally will be organized by Jamiat in Patna against the Waqf Amendment Bill. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will also participate in it.

All India Muslim Personal Law Board had said this

Let us tell you that earlier on Saturday (October 2, 2024), the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) had said that if Muslims do not want amendments in the bill, then it should be set aside. AIMPLB General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi, while addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, said, in just 13 days, more than 3.66 crore Muslims have expressed their opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill through email. When Muslims do not want this bill, the government should set it aside.

‘What Muslims want should be considered’

The AIMPLB had said that the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) had sought public opinion on this issue. Mujaddidi said on Saturday, “Earlier all the amendments brought for the Waqf Board were aimed at strengthening it. We know that the current bill will weaken the Waqf Board. This is the reason why the AIMPLB is not accepting these amendments. They will also decide how to deal with the matter legally. We urge that this issue be paid attention to and considered what Muslims want.”
