At the same time, now the AIMPLB has sought an urgent meeting with the President of India Draupadi Murmu regarding the Waqf Amendment Act.

AIMPLB will express concern over the bill
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has sought an urgent meeting with President Draupadi Murmu to express its concern over the Waqf Amendment Bill passed by the Parliament, before the President approves this bill. AIMPLB spokesperson Dr. SQR Ilyas, while sharing the subject of the letter written by the board’s general secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddadi, wrote- “The amendment introduced by the Act contains significant changes that affect the administration and autonomy of the Waqf institution, which has historically played an important role in religious and charitable activities.”

What is the purpose of the meeting?

The letter of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board further states that our purpose of meeting the President is to express our deep concern about the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 and its implications for the Muslim community across the country. The board further said- “This Act is completely unconstitutional and an attack on the Muslims of the country. We believe that the provisions of the Act need to be seriously reconsidered as they are inconsistent with the fundamental rights enshrined under the Constitution of India, especially with regard to religious freedom, equality and protection of religious institutions.” Demand to discuss solutions
The AIMPLB has requested President Murmu to give an early appointment at a convenient time considering the gravity of the matter so that the concerns can be conveyed to her and possible solutions can be discussed within the constitutional framework.
