There was a power failure due to the falling of an electric pole. After the storm subsided, there were signs of devastation everywhere. People started collecting broken items from their homes. With the help of local people, the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. Jalpaiguri SP has confirmed the death of 5 people due to cyclone.
170 injured, Mamata Banerjee expressed grief
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over the devastation caused by the cyclone. He has said that appropriate compensation will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and the injured. He has said that the district administration will provide compensation to the relatives of the deceased and the injured as per the rules and following the MCC. Medical Superintendent and Vice Principal of Jalpaiguri Government Medical College says that after the cyclone, more than 170 patients have come to the emergency of the hospital. Of these, 49 patients have been admitted in critical condition. Everyone is being treated.
