More than 2200 companies have closed their business in West Bengal in the last 5 years, including 39 listed companies. This information has come to light in response to a question by BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya in the Rajya Sabha. Since then, many questions are being raised on Mamata Banerjee and her government.
In response to a question by BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra said that 2227 companies have left Bengal in the last 5 years. Apart from this, these companies have also changed their registered main office.
Bengal slipped from second to eighth position
Minister of State Harsh Malhotra said that there are many reasons behind the companies leaving Bengal, the companies that left Bengal were from almost every sector. These include companies related to manufacturing, finance, commission agency. In the 1970s, West Bengal was second after Maharashtra in terms of registered companies. But in 2021, Bengal has come to eighth position.
Mamata government has not done anything to stop the companies from leaving. No steps were taken to provide companies a safe work environment and to work in the state. The result of which is that the companies are slowly winding up their business.
BJP raised questions
BJP’s National Information and Technology Department and Bengal co-in-charge Amit Malviya has attacked Mamata government, citing figures, he said that the report card of the corporate sector leaving Bengal is in front of everyone. This is a big failure as a Chief Minister.
He said that this is a serious and worrying situation, due to which there has been a huge reduction in jobs, business and industrial development in the state. He said that we are constantly saying that Mamata government is anti-industry, it is not me but the figures that came out in the Rajya Sabha are telling this.
Wrong picture of Bengal shown – TMC
TMC Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale said that this question itself is full of prejudice. BJP has been trying to show the wrong picture of Bengal. They have always done this. They get happiness in doing this. Gokhale said that the BJP did not ask the question that how many new companies got registered in this state in the last five years. Gokhale said that if they want to know the whole truth, then they should also ask how many new registrations took place during this period.
