More than 5.8 million names have been deleted from the voter list in West Bengal during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). According to Election Commission sources, the number of deceased voters in the state so far is 2,418,699. Additionally, 1,211,462 people have been untraceable. If the Booth Level Officer (BLO) visits a voter’s home three or more times to locate them, they are placed on the missing list.
1,993,000 People Shifted
In addition, a total of 1,993,087 voters in the state have changed their addresses. Their names were listed in more than one voter list. The Election Commission has identified a total of 1,37,575 voters in the state as “fake.” Their names will also not be included in the draft list. Additionally, 57,509 more people who were included in the “Other” list were also excluded.
When will the draft voter list be published?
The draft voter list will be published in West Bengal on December 16th. Any complaints or errors in the list should be reported to the Commission. A hearing will be held based on this. The Commission will prepare the final list after verifying the evidence.
How much SIR work has been done in Bengal?
The update regarding SIR in Bengal is that 99.99 percent of the forms have been distributed so far, but only 99.86 percent have been digitized. The identity of approximately 5.8 million voters remains unknown, and their names have been removed from the final voter list.
