West Bengal Violence: Governor CV Anand Bose has sought an action report from CM Mamata Banerjee regarding the killing of a woman in Nandigram in East Medinipur district of West Bengal.

Nandigram Violence: West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the killing of a woman in Nandigram in East Medinipur district. Bose has asked to take action in the matter.

A source told news agency PTI regarding the matter that CV Ananda Bose has directed Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee to take immediate action and submit a report of the action to him.

What did CV Anand Bose say?

CV Anand Bose said in an official message (letter) sent to Mamata Banerjee that she should ensure that all necessary action is taken within the parameters of the Model Code of Conduct. Actually, the Model Code of Conduct is in force in view of the Lok Sabha elections.

What did the West Bengal Police say?

The police said that a female BJP worker from the Scheduled Caste community was killed in Nandigram on Wednesday night, after which BJP workers protested on a large scale on Thursday (May 23, 2024).

What did the BJP allege?

The West Bengal BJP accused TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee of instigating violence in Nandigram ahead of the May 25 elections. BJP state general secretary and spokesperson Jagannath Chattopadhyay said, “This violence happened due to the instigation of the chief minister and her nephew.” Chattopadhyay said that Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and BJP MLA from Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari visited the affected area in the Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency. He claimed that the TMC has understood that it is losing the elections in all the eight seats where voting will take place in the sixth phase and alleged that due to this the ruling party of the state is trying to suppress BJP leaders and workers.
