Who is behind the ‘big conspiracy’ in the Kolkata rape case? Former OC of Tala police station Abhijit Mandal and former principal of RG Kar Sandeep Ghosh were arrested by the CBI on Saturday night on charges of destroying evidence. On Sunday, Abhijit Mandal and Sandeep Ghosh were produced before the second judicial magistrate of Sealdah Court, Judge Pamela Gupta. The Sealdah court has ordered CBI remand of both the accused for three days.
Let us tell you that on August 9, the body of a trainee doctor was found in RG Kar Medical College. The post-mortem report revealed that the trainee doctor was raped and murdered. After that, Kolkata Police arrested civic volunteer Sanjay Roy in this case.
Later, during the investigation, the CBI interrogated about 100 people including Sandeep Ghosh, Arijit Mandal. Now the CBI has also arrested Sandeep Ghosh and Arijit Mandal in this case.
In the court, the CBI claimed that on the night of the incident, there was a conversation between RG Kar’s former principal Sandeep Ghosh and Tala police station’s former OC Abhijit Mandal. CBI has got evidence of this.
Sandeep and Arijit will be questioned together
CBI’s lawyer raised this issue in the court. However, according to sources, Abhijit Mandal has denied the conversation during the cross-examination. CBI’s lawyer asked the court, “There is a conversation with Sandeep in the CDR. There could be a conspiracy behind this. We really want to bring it forward. We want to cross-examine Sandeep and Abhijit face to face.
The lawyer on behalf of CBI said, “The role of the OC is suspicious. It is our responsibility to bring out the truth. He did not fulfill his duty as a policeman. He knows the procedure very well.”
He did not inspect this either. He was not as careful as he should have been in rape and murder cases. Evidence was destroyed. Post-mortem, fingerprints, footprints were also destroyed.
CBI is looking for a big conspiracy
Abhijeet’s lawyer raised the question that his client was given 6 notices. He went every time… he was on medical leave. Abhijeet’s lawyer told the court that he also went. His question was, ‘What did you find during the interrogation on Saturday that he was arrested?’
Abhijeet’s lawyer told the court that the arrest memo was not given to the family. The ground arrest was not informed. He said, “I am a public servant. Enter any condition. Bail is being sought.
The lawyer on behalf of CBI said, “We are not considering Abhijeet as an accused. Three days’ custody is being sought. I don’t think he is an accused in the main charge.”
CBI’s statement, “Many people feel that there is tension between CBI and police. But it is not so. We really want to know. Let the truth come out. Initially this incident was described as suicide, but it was clear that it was physical abuse. Evidence was seized very late. As the head of the hospital, Sandeep Ghosh did not follow the rules properly.
