New Delhi: The water level of Yamuna in Delhi is close to the danger mark, which has increased the concern of the people. In fact, the water level of Yamuna river at Delhi’s old railway bridge reached 205.11 meters at around 8 pm on Saturday evening, which is just below the danger mark of 205.33 meters.
What is the warning level?
The warning level for Delhi is 204.50 meters and the danger level is 205.33 meters, while at 206 meters water level, people are evacuated from low-lying areas. The water released from the barrage usually takes 48 to 50 hours to reach Delhi.
What did the officials say?
According to an official of the Central Flood Control Room, the main reason for the increase in the water level is the release of 36,000 cusecs and 44,320 cusecs of water per hour from Hathinikund and Wazirabad barrages respectively. The old railway bridge is an important point for monitoring the flow of Yamuna river and the potential risk of floods.
Officials said that the situation is being closely monitored and all preparations are complete to deal with any emergency. In view of the rising water level, the concerned agencies have already been instructed to be alert to deal with flood-like situations.

According to the IMD, it will be cloudy on Sunday and light rain may occur in many areas of Delhi-NCR. During this time, the maximum temperature of Delhi can be 33 degree Celsius. Traffic may be affected due to waterlogging. Therefore, take full caution before leaving the house.
