New Delhi: Youth Congress workers protested at the India AI Impact Summit held in the capital Delhi on Friday. They took off their shirts and chanted slogans against the central government. The protesters stated that the protest was against the trade agreement with the US, causing disruption in one of the summit halls at Bharat Mandapam.
Youth Congress staged a shirtless protest
According to eyewitnesses, chaos erupted during the morning session when protesters stood up and began shouting slogans, attracting the attention of delegates and officials. Security personnel were seen attempting to control the situation as Congress members expressed their objections.
4 accused arrested
The protest occurred on the final day of the five-day summit, where global leaders and technology experts gathered to discuss the future of AI. Delhi Police stated that legal action is being taken in the matter. Four accused have been arrested and will be produced in Patiala House Court today. Delhi Police is applying several serious sections in the FIR. The accused also scuffled with the police. The Delhi Police is now investigating a larger conspiracy in this matter.
Congress faces sharp criticism on the Internet
This act by Congress workers has drawn sharp reactions on social media. Internet users described this “shameless” act as an attempt to insult the country on a global stage. Many said that action should be taken against those involved in this act that tarnishes India’s image.
‘Shameless, insolence, ignorance’
One user wrote, “This is shameless, insolence, ignorance, and also an attempt to insult the country. Youth Congress workers are protesting against Modi ji at the AI Summit half-naked. Were the roads of the country insufficient??? Or is the agenda not protest but only defamation???”
Defaming India
Another user said, “They weren’t successful in defaming India on social media at the AI Summit. Now, Youth Congress workers are staging a drama at Bharat Mandapam, trying to defame India. Action should be taken against them to dispel all this anti-national silliness.” A third user added, “You can oppose policies. You can question the leadership. But embarrassing the country in front of global representatives? That’s not activism—that’s insecurity.”
BJP launches scathing attack on Congress
BJP Information Technology Department chief Amit Malviya strongly criticized the Congress for the protest, calling it a “national disgrace” and saying the party should be ashamed. He said, “At a time when India is hosting a prestigious global AI summit and showcasing its innovation and leadership in technology, the Congress party chose disruption over dignity. Congress workers, led by Rahul Gandhi, stripped naked at the summit venue, clearly designed to embarrass India on the world stage. At a time when the country is striving to establish itself as a global technology superpower, such behavior only serves the interests of those who want to see India falter. Political protest is a democratic right, but tarnishing India’s global image is not appropriate. India deserves better.”
Defense Minister said, ‘Attempt to tarnish India’s image’
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “When the entire world was watching India host the AI Impact Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and witnessing our growing global leadership in technology and innovation, the Congress party, instead of enhancing the country’s prestige, chose to disrupt the event. The shameful manner in which Youth Congress workers behaved inappropriately and created a ruckus at the venue is not only unfortunate but also an attempt to tarnish India’s reputation internationally. I condemn this act by the Congress party. Whenever India advances on the global stage, the Congress party appears to prioritize political gain over standing up for the national interest. It is deeply saddening to see party politics prioritize the country’s prestige and honor. The people of India understand well who is committed to strengthening and empowering India and who repeatedly attempts to tarnish India’s image.”
“Congress leaders did a disgusting thing”: CM Yogi
CM Yogi also reacted to the Youth Congress workers at Bharat Mandapam. Targeting the Congress, he said, “The Youth Congress leaders at Bharat Mandapam did a very disgusting thing. These people bargain at the expense of the country. Today, the Congress created chaos at Bharat Mandapam, a shameful incident was committed by the Congress, and an attempt was made to tarnish India’s image.”
Rahul Gandhi created the ruckus: Manjinder Singh Sirsa
Furthermore, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the actions of Congress workers have tarnished India’s image and that this ruckus was orchestrated by Rahul Gandhi. He said, “The protest that Rahul Gandhi got the Indian National Youth Congress to do today at the AI Summit, in which the ‘naked dance’ was performed by removing clothes in front of foreign guests, is extremely shameful. Protesting is one thing. But such a protest in which our country is being portrayed as inferior, the image of our country is being tarnished? Only the Congress has this cheap mentality. Today the Gandhi family must think about how low they have fallen that today they have forgotten what the honor and respect of the country should be in front of foreign guests. I condemn such cheap protest in the strongest terms.”
