Mumbai: This time in the Maharashtra assembly elections, uncle and nephew are face to face on the Baramati seat. While Ajit Pawar is contesting from his party NCP, Yugendra Pawar is contesting against him from Sharad Pawar’s NCP. Yugendra Pawar is Ajit Pawar’s nephew. He accused his uncle Ajit Pawar of breaking the family. He said this in an exclusive interview to India TV. He says that he compromised with the party’s ideology and joined hands with BJP. The distance in the family has increased at the ideological level.
We thought we should stand with Sharad Pawar sahab
He said that he never thought that he would have to fight against his uncle. Worked in the Lok Sabha elections to support Dada ji (Sharad Pawar). In electoral politics, we came forward in the Lok Sabha elections. Whatever happened in the party a year and a half ago, no one liked it. That’s why people thought that they should stand with Sharad Pawar ji.
Ideological division within the family
He said that we have been doing social work for a long time and when there was ideological division within the family and the party broke up, we decided that we will stay with the ideas of Gandhiji, Nehruji, Ambedkarji and we decided to stay with Sharad Pawar sahab.
The people of Baramati are with Pawar sahab
He is confident of winning the Baramati assembly seat. He said that till now Ajit Pawar has been winning this seat with a big margin because Sharad Pawar sahab was behind him. The people of Baramati are behind Pawar sahab and Sharad Pawar sahab is behind us, so I feel that Ajit Pawar will lose this time. The people here are not liking Pawar sahab’s leaving them. We will take the lead in both rural and urban areas.
